"To MJ, love Mariah": What it makes to meet Mariah Carey

[ad_1]

She made me feel emotions!

Mariah Carey is one of the best-selling female artists of all time, with around 200 million albums sold worldwide and 18 hits No. 1 Hot Billboard 100 (only two more successes and she'll be at tied with the Beatles) – Mimi, as it would call his fans, is really a living legend.

Now enough of what we already know, I just want to share my moment Mariah.

To go back a bit, I heard Mariah for the first time in elementary school. My younger sister was asked to sing for a graduation ceremony and during that time, "Hero" was a great success. He played everywhere. So my mother bought a multiplex cassette of Mariah's songs and my sister started singing it again and again at home. Mariah's voice would echo on the four walls of our humble abode.

In high school, I listened to her songs from the album "Daydream". "One Sweet Day" has even become our junior / senior song (which is so weird "is that this song is about the loss of a loved one). Then "Butterfly" fell, followed by "# 1s", then "Rainbow" and so on. In other words, I would become a fan.

A lamb. This is how Mariah would call her fans.

Meeting Mariah is an ultimate dream for the lamb. From his MTV touring videos, I envied fans in Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia who had their CDs and tapes signed (yes, tapes!) Mariah.

2003 was unforgettable.

The now-defunct variety show "SOP" announced that Mariah Carey would be coming to the Philippines for the first time. I will never forget this Sunday. It was KC Montero who announced that the concert would be held at the open ground of the Fort and that the tickets were a bit expensive for someone like me who had just started working. I've bought a VIP ticket for over 7,000 pesos and a bronze ticket for my sister because I can not afford to buy two VIPs. The show was so good that we enjoyed it.

In 2014, Mariah returns to Asia for her "Elusive Singer" tour! But at the beginning, Manila was not part of the tour. So, my fingers hurried to book a plane ticket and concert for Singapore.

Only after a few days, she discovers that she is returning to Manila. Still panicked. Fought and bought a ticket in the first row. It was "Heavenly" (just like his song in the 2014 album). I even gave her flowers while she was singing "Hero". But there was no chance to meet and greet.

In 2018, I went to Las Vegas to do my residency at Ceasar's Palace. This time, my sister and I have good places. We were all together, stunned and happy to see Mimi. But it's one of the emails that made our hearts beat like butter. An invitation to an exclusive after party with Mariah. It was the very first time in my life that I was getting closer to her. No bodyguards, no assistance – just me, Mariah, the elusive singer. (Insert laughs) And after his short speech, I had a picture. A creepy photo with Mariah. What a way to finish my last day in the United States before returning to Manila.

Just when I thought that was the case, I announced the good news that Mariah is coming back to Manila!

On October 25, at three o'clock in the morning, his private plane landed at the NAIA. She just finished her concert in Shanghai and ran a runner right after the show. I was nervous. I did not know what to ask, but I kept reminding myself to stay calm and ask the right questions. And that's what I did.

Me interviewing Mariah Carey on her arrival at NAIA via a private jet last Thursday.

Just after this brief interview of ambush, I asked Mariah if she could sign a work of art.

(Previous story: A few days before his arrival, I had my head spinning to try to figure out what I had to wear for his concert.I conceptualized a drawing and asked an artist to draw it.C & # 39; Is an art text. His face drawn with the help of the text titles of all his songs. After some exchanges, Nik did a fantastic job.No revision. He got what i got I had in mind.)

So I showed it to Mariah. She handed him a pen and she said, "Oh my god, it's beautiful." I replied immediately: "I printed this work on a shirt and I have one for you, for your children and for Bryan (Tanaka) ". After signing it, she took "her words and went on her merry way" (real fans would know this line is from her song "GTFO"). Do not waste time, I rushed for the illustrations to be printed on shirts.

The day arrived, the Filipino lambs were waiting for it – October 26, 2018. Mariah's concert "The Butterfly Returns" at the Big Dome. Big problem – I had to excuse myself from work and focus on the work to be done – MA-RI-AH. I booked a hotel room adjacent to the concert hall, and I arrived early to avoid EDSA traffic and pedestrian traffic in the surrounding area, and I settled down.

A few hours before the show, I met my college friends and a good friend, Carl, who brought with him a very special gift that we designed for Mariah.

(Previous story: Upon my return from Vegas, I met my friend Carl, from Tessera Jewelry, for an interview on a different topic. In an unprecedented way, we talked about my trip to Las Vegas and thought about a idea if we can give Mariah something – a beautiful jewel There was a lot of deliberation about the size, the color, the design and the type of jewelry. We imagined a brooch. We had some extra meetings and some phone calls, until everything was finalized, and it looked great.)

Necklace, check.
My outfit, check.
I'm ready.

From 19:30, people started filling the room. From fans to celebrities, everyone was looking forward to our DIVA. And while everyone was meeting with other fans, Mariah posted an Instagram article on Instagram saying she was stuck in EDSA traffic. (Welcome to Manila, Mariah!)

Around 8:30 pm, they sifted the lights and went away!
Mariah was beautiful.

She came, she saw and she killed.

For the third time, Mariah has charmed Pinoy's fans with a sexier silhouette, a more engaging and engaging show, and a louder voice. And the fans got what they had asked for – she sang HITS! From his very first title "Vision of Love" to his charts such as "Emotions", "Fantasy", "One Sweet Day", "Always be my baby", "We Belong Together", "Honey" and many favorites such as only like "can not let go" and "Heartbreaker". But for me, the highlights were "My All" and "Make it Happen".

Mariah closed the show with "Hero". It was an amazing moment to see all the participants in the concert light up their phones, waving them from left to right, while Mariah picked up one of her most successful and iconic successes.

After the show, I was one of five lucky people to get a pass for the meeting. I was shaking. I did not know what to do, what to say and what to say to him. And it's gone!

As soon as I walked in, she was all smiles and said, "Oh my god, I love your shirt, Melissa is looking at her shirt!" Melissa Ruderman is her manager. Here is our conversation as far as possible and as honestly as I can remember:

MJ: "It's the work I asked you to sign yesterday."
Mariah: "Yes, it's beautiful."
MJ: "I have shirts for you, for kids, for Bryan and for Melissa. It's with her (Melissa). "
Mariah: "Oh, okay, thanks."
MJ: "And Mariah, I also have a butterfly collar for you."
Mariah: "Oh, thank you very much."
MJ: "We met in Vegas last July, I was there. Here is our picture. "(She showed him the bottom of my phone screen)
Mariah: "Oh wow! Yes!"
MJ: "Kristoffer, look!" (Kristoffer Buckle is her makeup artist)

Then we got the picture. I was with Ronald De Guzman, another lucky fan who got the M & G pass. Well deserved for Ronald because, like me, he's a great fan. After our picture was taken, I told Mariah, "Mariah, is it too much to ask if I sign my shirt?" She says, "Of course, dahlin."

She took out my pen and, when she wrote, "MJ, love Mariah," she said, "MJ, I will remember you." This just sealed the deal. Hearing these words from her, work, effort, perspiration and stress were worth it. I had a hug, a beso and Mariah's love.

I was on a high.
Last night, I was a fan.
Not a journalist. But a fan.

MJ met MC.
I met a music icon, a living legend.
Mariah is a celebrity.

This experience was more than a "waking dream" and no longer a "fantasy". . .
It was a "vision of love".
And I will cherish this moment "forever", "infinitely".
