Toyota unveils the first two models of the GR Performance brand

Last September, Toyota announced the launch of its new brand Gazoo Racing Performance. The new performance line would offer more sporty variants on some Toyota models such as the GRMN Yaris and even some exclusive models in Japan. GR Performance will offer vehicles in three different levels: GR Sport as a base, GR as a medium trim, and GRMN as the range topper.

Today, the first GR Performance vehicles debuted, the GR Sport 86 and GR 86.

Let's put we're one thing apart first. No, Toyota has not added power to the GR Sport 86 and GR 86. Both models continue to produce 207 PS and 212 Nm of torque from the 2.0-liter flat-four engine. The GR 86 is offered with a 6-speed manual only while the GR Sport 86 can be obtained with a manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

To begin with the GR Sport, it includes a new front splitter, a side skirt , a wing and 17-inch wheels.The wheels are hidden by new 4-piston / 2-piston Brembo brakes at the front and rear, respectively.The GR 86 sports a similar exterior styling on front and side, however, it has a new rear bumper with a central exhaust, 6-piston / 4-piston brakes and 17-inch forged wheels

The GR 86 gets the same improvements but is equipped with new GR racing seats by Recaro. Both models can be used with the new GR-T Connect Infotainment System which includes a racing recorder that records lap times and shows other vehicle parameters.

The price of the GR Sport 86 starts at 3,780,000 yen (Php 1,825,180)) while the GR86 starts at (Php 2,400,000) This excludes TRD goodies that you can add on top.
