UPV graduate tops CPA Board Exam

A GRADUATE of the University of the Philippines Visayas-Iloilo topped the 2018 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure examination, as announced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Oct. 22, 2018.

Lyka Ranette Alejano Borja landed on eighth place with a 86.67 percent rating.

Borja graduated magna cum laude after earning her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree at the University of the Philippines Visayas-College of Management.

In an interview, Borja said she shares her success to her family and friends.

“Happy gid ko ang very grateful man kay ang hardships nag-paid off man and very thankful kay God kag sa family ko kag sa tanan,” she said.

Being an achiever even in her younger years, Borja said that she was continuously motivated by her parents, Carlos Miguel Borja and Liza Borja who is also a CPA accountant.

Ang akon nga  mama ang CPA so sa iya ko nagsunod, ang iya nga yapak ang akon ginsunod,” she said.

She graduated with honors in her grade and high school years at the Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus and Iloilo National High School, respectively.

Borja said she never expected to land on the top ten because the examination was very challenging.

She eyes to land a job and later earn her master’s degree.

Ang first is maka-work para maka-gather experience kag para ma-secure ang akon future,” Borja said.

A total of 3,616 examinees out of 14,358 passed the CPA licensure examination which was conducted by the PRC on Oct. 6,7, and 13, 2018.
