Miss Philippines Ahtisa Manalo finished 1st runner-up at the Miss International 2018 pageant held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, November 9.

Mariem Claret Velazco Garcia of Venezuela won the Miss International crown, besting 77 beauties from other countries.

The 2017 winner, Indonesia’s Kevin Lilliana, passed the crown to the Venezuelan beauty queen.

Runners-up were Miss South Africa Reabetswe Sechoaro (2nd), Miss Romania Bianca Tirsin (3rd), Miss Colombia Anabella Castro (4th)

Other winners were:

  • Miss International Africa – Miss South Africa Reabetswe Sechoaro
  • Miss International America – Miss Argentina Rocio Pérez Suarez
  • Miss International Asia – Miss Singapore Eileen Feng
  • Miss International Europe – Miss Netherlands Zoë Amber Niewold
  • Miss International Oceania – Miss Guam Diliana Tuncap

Other delegates who landed in the Top 15 were from Romania, Mexico, Ecuador, Thailand, Australia, Paraguay, Japan, Indonesia, Ukraine, Spain and Madagascar. From Top 15 candidates, it was cut to Top 8 contestants: Japan, Romania, Ecuador, Colombia, Spain, South Africa, Venezuela, and Philippines.

The Philippines has already won six times in the beauty contest. Other Filipino winners were Gemma Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Rose Santiago (2013) and Kylie Verzosa (2016). (with a report from Robert Requintina)
