Westmincom honors 10 wounded soldiers

Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) awarded the Wounded Personnel Medal (WPM) for bravery in action to soldiers who were wounded in a recent clash against Abu Sayyaf bandits in the province of Sulu.

Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, Westmincom Chief, rewarded WPM during its visit Friday to the soldiers of Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Jolo, Sulu.

The recipients of WPM are the 10 soldiers of the 32nd Infantry Battalion of the Army who were wounded. Brigadier-General Divino Rey Pabayo, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, said the troops were on mission in targeted military operations. they clashed with the group of Abu Sayyaf Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan's sous-chef.

Most of the 10 wounded soldiers were admitted to the Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital while the others were airlif Lieutenant-Colonel Gerry Besana, Westmincom's Information Officer, said that Dela Vega also visited other wounded soldiers at the hospital of this city.

He said that Dela Vega congratulated the soldiers for their professionalism and dedication and willingness to give their lives just so that people live in peace in their communities.
