Philips, manufacturer of Philips Hue's Philips Hue-based Ambilight Projection TVs, blends iconic technologies with a real light show.
The Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box is a wired way to connect Philips Hue bulbs from your home to your TV – not surprisingly, via HDMI.
Just like the Ambilight system on many Philips TVs, which project colors to the screen on the wall behind the screen for immersive lighting, the Sync Box allows users to use Philips Hue light bulbs for the same purpose.
This means that even if your TV does not come from Philips, you can still program a suitable show, with flashing lights and trendy color tones accompanying your movie night – be it the thrilling action of The Fast and The Furious or the annoying chills of this evening. Black Mirror episode.
You can connect "up to ten Philips Hue color lights" via the Philips Hue Sync app, while the Sync Box can switch on-the-fly between its four HDMI ports: consoles, TVs, set-top boxes, 4K players Blu-ray, laptops or others.
The Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box will be available in the United States, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands from October 15th.
Availability for the UK is not yet known, but we are told that other countries will follow in 2020. The retail price is set at 249.95 € / 229.99 USD ( around £ 185).
The Sync Box comes from the back of new stylish Philips Hue Edison bulbs, which have been named Best in Smart Home as part of our IFA 2019 Awards.
