Philadelphia Phillies Phillies player Andrew McCutchen has a torn ACL and is out for the rest of the season, the team said on Tuesday.
The former LTL MVP had to be saved after knee injury during a setback in the first round of Monday's 8-2 loss to the San Diego Padres and was led to clubhouse for review.
"It's a zany dynamic," McCutchen told reporters on Tuesday, hoping to be ready for opening day next season. "This is not the news I wanted to hear."
The team initially feared that McCutchen had a sprained left knee, but an MRI revealed tearing of the ACL.

"I did not feel it was pop or anything," McCutchen said after Monday's game. "Something that made me feel uncomfortable, something that made me knee down and get him down." I've had an ACL injury before, and I know what it's all about. looks like it did not look that way. "
Unfortunately for the Phillies, who dominated the East of the NHL with just half a game late on the Atlanta Braves that started Tuesday, this was the case.
Jay Bruce, who was acquired this week in an exchange with the Seattle Mariners, replaced McCutchen in the left field on Monday and again on Tuesday. Adam Haseley, called from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, will start in the middle of the field.
McCutchen, 32, averages .256 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in his first season in Philadelphia. He signed a $ 50 million three-year contract during the off-season after finishing last season with the New York Yankees.
In a matching alignment movement, the Phillies propelled launcher Victor Arano on the 60-day casualty list.
