A Phoenix couple sue the city after police arrested and shot with a firearm after their 4-year-old daughter took a doll to a store.

The lawsuit, which charges $ 10 million, alleges that officers have committed violence, illegal imprisonment, fraudulent arrests and other civil rights violations, a local NBC affiliate reported.

After leaving a Family Dollar store with their two daughters, Dravon Ames and Iesha Harper realized that one of the girls had brought a doll with her from the store, NBC reported, citing a notice of the ongoing lawsuit filed this week.

The couple then drove their daughters to a nearby apartment complex to meet their babysitter. Once there, the Phoenix police confronted them in the parking lot.

A video taken by a passerby was posted on Facebook by the city's police department. In the video, an officer appears to be pushing a handcuffed man against a car and kicking him in the legs.

"When I tell you to do something, you f —— do it!" a Cree officer, apparently speaking to Ames.

Meanwhile, while other officers seem to be handcuffing Harper, another woman, who appears to be the babysitter, is taking their children.

During the showdown, Ames and Harper saw officers show them guns in front of their daughters, NBC reported, citing the complaint notice.

On Facebook, the police department wrote that one police officer had placed "two people in custody while he was investigating a shoplifting robbery".

"The Phoenix Police Service takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and, for this reason, the Professional Standards Bureau is currently investigating this incident," the department wrote.
