Houston, Texas – A viral photo of an intensive care unit doctor in Houston kissing an elderly COVID-19 patient on Thanksgiving is tugging at the heart on social media.
According to a recent USA Today report, Thanksgiving Day marked the 252nd consecutive work day for Dr. Joseph Varon, shown in the viral image. He works at the United Memorial Medical Center in Houston.
Dr Varon is seen in the viral photo wearing full protective gear as he kisses an elderly COVID-19 patient. Several people took to Twitter, thanking the doctor for his efforts so far in caring for patients with coronavirus.

On Saturday, the city of Houston reported 924 coronavirus cases for November 26 and 28, bringing the total number of cases to 96,533 so far. Eleven more deaths were also announced during the same period, for a total of 1,433, according to city officials.

The three-day report is due to city officials failing to report Thanksgiving cases from Nov. 26-27.
