Celebrities and a huge tent have been spotted in Martha’s Vineyard for the 60th birthday of former President Obama which his office says has been “downsized” to include only close friends and family amid concerns over the variant of the Delta coronavirus.
Drone footage obtained by Daily Mail showed large tents set up outside Obama’s huge Martha’s Vineyard, along with a dance floor and several long tables.

Additionally, several prominent celebrities have reportedly made it to the island including Jay-Z, Eddie Vedder, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Dwyane Wade and Stephen Colbert.
The Obama team had originally planned a lavish anniversary with more than 500 guests expected, but announcement this week, the party would be “reduced” amid criticism of such an event being held as the variant of the Delta coronavirus increased across the country.
“Due to the new spread of the delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to drastically reduce the event to include only family and close friends. President Obama appreciates others send their birthday greetings from afar and look forward to seeing people soon, ”an Obama spokesperson said earlier this week.
Some celebrities were said to have gone unchecked and their invitations revoked, including Larry David, David Axelrod, Conan O’Brien and David Letterman.

Several social media users reacted to the big tent photo with criticism and suggested the case was more important than the Obama team suggested.
“This is the tent for Obama’s ‘shrunken’ birthday party where only close friends and family were supposed to attend,” tweeted conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. “Instead, several celebrities and politicians were seen.”
Kirk added, “Why don’t the same people who tell you to stay home and social distance think these rules apply to them?”

Human Events Editor-in-Chief Jack Posobiec tweeted a photo of the event with a sarcastic caption of “Scaled Back”.
Some criticism has also come from residents of the island, with a local saying that Obama has broadened the definition of what constitutes a “close friend”.
“His close friends apparently include his golfing friends, politicians, celebrities,” the local said. These people are here on the island and I doubt he will push them all away. He wants people to think it’s going to be small and intimate, but I don’t think we have the same definition of intimate. “
Barack and Michelle Obama’s office did not immediately respond to a Fox News request for comment on crowd size.
