The EPCOT entry experience gets a makeover. In addition to new main entrance music and pavilion logo flags, EPCOT launched new entrance plaza lighting tonight.
Entrance lighting and fountain lighting are linked together. Colors cascade from one lighting system to another.
These two photos, taken about 20 minutes apart, show how the lighting changes.
Here, the pylons are illuminated in white. The fountain ring lighting has blues, purples and reds.
Shortly afterwards, the lighting elements of the fountain were predominantly blue.
The fountain pylons can be illuminated independently.
The lighting effect of the fountain ring is created by lights installed on the outer ring, which also retains water.
Lighting above the toilet has not been included in the new lighting package.
The entrance to the EPCOT is flooded with bright colors.
Flag flags fly in front of a colorful spaceship.
Even at dusk, we can sometimes see the lights pulsing along the roofline of the entrance plaza.
Spaceship Earth is also planned for new exterior lighting.
The new lighting is visible just beyond the flags of the pavilion and the entrance fountain.
The LED lights change color as they move toward spacecraft Earth. Sometimes they just form rainbow patterns that mimic the new fountain.
The lights are synchronized with the lighting of the entrance fountain and the new music soundtrack. The color possibilities are almost endless.
You can watch the video of the new lighting below:
Imagineer Zach Riddley gave more information about this new lighting pack, which can be read here.
