UPDATE:

More than half of the two dozen men, women and children involved in the collapse of a bridge in Wildwood have been released from hospitals in the area, authorities said Sunday.

A group of firefighters and former firefighters and their children had just attended a parade as part of the 142nd Annual Convention and New Jersey State Fire Department Memorial Service.

They were gathered in a three-story house on East Baker Avenue on Saturday night, when the upper deck failed, leaving those below, crackers said.

Most hospitalized patients were released after being treated, according to the Cape Regional Health System.

A victim who was flown to the trauma unit at the Atlantic City Medical Center and another who was taken by ambulance remained hospitalized, authorities said.

A witness told CBS3 that neighbors had rescued a 2-year-old girl.

"We were sitting on [our] bridge and watched all this happen. It was horrible, "said witness Gail Ivins. "There were people – they did not dance or anything. They were sitting, a group of people. There were children on the decks – all three levels.

"We heard the sound of this noise that was starting to get away. The first floor deck is removed first. People started to slip, scream and fall. Then the pillars were lowered and the third floor deck fell. It was very slow. It was really scary. He fell apart. "

A pole was set up to support the hipped roof of the building, suspended over the wreckage.
