There is now a video clip of the small collision between two Holland America Line cruise ships at the Canada Place cruise terminal in downtown Vancouver.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning, while Oosterdam was maneuvering to dock at the cruise ship terminal. In the process, he joined the Nieuw Amsterdam already moored while mooring at the stern.

The video posted on YouTube, captured by a person aboard the Oosterdam, shows the ship in slow contact with the Nieuw Amsterdam. The scraping produced screams and noises.

Six outside cabins at the back of the Nieuw Amsterdam were damaged. The Oosterdam also suffered some minor outside damage, but no cabins were affected.

According to the cruise company, no injuries were recorded and the landing of both vessels occurred after the incident. Repairs to the damaged Nieuw Amsterdam cabins began almost immediately and guests booked in the affected suites on the next trip were relocated to other cabins.

Both ships left the port late Saturday afternoon as planned; Nieuw Amsterdam began its next seven-day round trip to Alaska, while the Oosterdam made the night commute to Seattle for the starting point of its next seven-day round trip to Alaska.

The Nieuw Amsterdam has a length of 258 meters, a gross tonnage of 86,700 GT and a capacity of 2,106 passengers and 929 crew members.

As for the Oosterdam, it has a length of 290 meters, a gross tonnage of 82 000 GT and a capacity of 1 848 passengers and 812 crew members.

Holland America is a division of Carnival Corporation.
