COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Blue Jackets finally signed a contract with center Pierre-Luc Dubois on Thursday, signing one of the NHL’s aspiring stars and the club’s top center for a two-year, $ 10 million contract.
Dubois, who is still just 22, will earn $ 3.35 million this season and $ 6.65 million in 2021-22, and he will still be a restricted free agent when contract expires. The timing of the deal allows Dubois to be ready for the start of training camp on Sunday.
But that wasn’t all good news for Dubois on Thursday.
The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reported earlier today that a few NHL clubs had been told Dubois “was looking for a change of scenery,” that he wanted to be traded to the Blue Jackets after just three seasons at Columbus.
