Below is Piers Morgan’s full column on Harry and Meghan’s interview.
Disgusting.
Shameful.
Self-pity.
Salacious.
Scandalous.
Moralizer.
Spectacularly selfish.
These were just my first thoughts after ten minutes of Oprah’s whining with Meghan and Harry, and while limiting myself to only using words starting with the letter ‘s’.
By the time I had finished the whole two-hour orgy of pious, indulgent, and regulating stakes, steam was gushing out of my ears like an exploding geyser, and my lexicon of angry epithets spanned the gamut of alphabet.
Never have I watched such a disgusting and fallacious interview.
Nor another horribly hypocritical or contradictory one.
They moaned over the terrible pain of their royal titles, but were also outraged that their son Archie was not allowed to be a prince.
They recounted their constant trauma from nasty newspaper articles, but repeatedly insisted that they would not read any of them.
They claimed they were forced to sign multi-billion dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify because Prince Charles cut their allowance, while Harry inherited millions of dollars from his late mother, Princess Diana and his whole life was funded by the royal family.
And so it went on nauseatingly.
In the midst of a pandemic that has already claimed the lives of more than 2.5 million people, an incredibly wealthy and empowered couple living in a sunny $ 14 million California mansion wanted us all to know that THEY are the real ones. victims here.
Meghan even compared her old life in a palace to the crippling existence of freedom from coronavirus lockdowns, which must have seemed so empathetic to the big families living atop the towers with three children that they are trying to make the home schooling and not working to pay for food.
“I couldn’t even meet my friends for lunch! mourned the Duchess of Illusion, who flew to New York for a $ 500,000 baby shower with all her famous new friends, then returned to London like any good eco-warrior on the jet private of George Clooney.
But amid all the relatively trivial gossip, incredibly damaging bombs were deliberately detonated to do maximum damage to the British Royal Family and the Monarchy.
Firstly, Meghan has claimed to have been left suicidal by the pressure of being a princess and has seen her requests for help rejected by the cold and heartless palate.
We weren’t told who had rejected it, or why she couldn’t seek her own therapy or treatment if that’s what she felt she needed. After all, her husband has spent years talking about mental health and has a strong connection to all of the major mental health charities.
Instead, it remains for us to believe that the palace rejected a suicidal pregnant woman in her hour of desperate need.
But it wasn’t even the most explosive revelation.
No, this happened when Meghan told Oprah that a member of the royal family asked what color her baby would be during a conversation with Harry.
In fact, she said there had been several conversations, while he said there was only one.
But none of them would name the offending royal.
Harry said he would never reveal the name.
So now it remains for us to regard all Royals as racists.
We were also not given any details on what exactly was said, or in what context it was said.
Would an older senior royal innocently ask Harry what skin color his baby might have, given that Meghan’s mother is black and her father white, would that constitute racism?
This would be the case if there was a derogatory tone to the question, or any suggestion that it would be an issue at how dark the child’s skin was. But we don’t know the answers to these vital questions, because after dropping the bomb against racism, the Sussexes will say no more.
I find that cowardly.
And the charge of racism escalated.
Meghan went on to say, without providing any evidence, that the royal family decided to change the rules specifically to prevent her son Archie from being a prince, due to his skin color.
Once again, no name has been given to the ghastly palace racist responsible for such a disgusting discriminatory decision.
But, as Meghan and Harry both know, the only person who has the final say on the titles is the Queen.
So by making this amazing, unproven claim, they are effectively calling Her Majesty, Harry’s grandmother, a racist.
It’s hard to think of a more shameful insult to make against a woman who has dedicated her entire life to serving her country and the Commonwealth.
The Queen is not a racist and has never been a racist.
To even suggest that it could be is disgusting.
But to do it at a time when her 99-year-old husband Prince Philip has spent the last few weeks gravely ill in hospital is worse than that, despicable.
Nothing Meghan Markle said in this interview surprised me.
From the moment Oprah broke her scoop, I predicted to anyone who asked me that Meghan would aggressively play the cards of sanity and race to shy away from criticism of herself and her own. behavior or responsibility.
I also cynically suspect that this is why she chose to do such a sensational interview when she is five months pregnant. Why would a woman do this after having a miscarriage last year, knowing the obvious controversy, media attention and stress it would cause? The answer, I’m afraid, is that she believed the pregnancy would give her another layer of protection against the inevitable fury and criticism that would result from her destruction of the royal family.
Having had personal experience, on a very small scale, of Meghan Markle’s cruelty when she dispensed someone in her life who ceased to be of service to her, it was not a great shock to see her light up a gigantic bonfire that will surely cause irreparable damage to her husband’s family.
After all, she set her own family on fire, as well as her ex-husband and most of her old friends.
It was the acting performance of her life, with every word, every facial expression carefully planned and choreographed.
In fact, it’s not late, someone should nominate it for the Oscars.
I mean, she’s a woman who was pictured on the gates of Buckingham Palace as a star-eyed teenager, but now wants us to believe she knew nothing about the Royals and never looked for once on Google his handsome prince when they met.
Since both of these lies are obvious, why should we believe everything that comes out of his mouth?
“No one told me how to curtsy or sing the British national anthem,” cried a 39-year-old married to someone who can probably help either way.
But make no mistake, this interview will be a triumph for Meghan in America. Her account of a poor, vulnerable and unsuspecting biracial woman thrown to the wolves by a racist white royal family and a racist British press is already being called “ brave ”, “ courageous ” and “ iconic ” in across the United States.
She has exactly what she wants: her homeland pities her.
And woe to anyone who criticizes Meghan, for you will instantly be criticized as a ‘racist bully’ towards a woman who is accused of subjecting her own young female Palace staff to horrific bullying.
But what about Prince Harry and his own homeland, Britain?
How on earth could he allow his wife to demolish her family on television in this way and attack and demean the institution even so dear to her grandmother?
He even let her throw his brother William’s wife, Kate – a woman who has never once said a bad word about Meghan in public – under the bus saying she made him cry in a row for children’s wedding dresses.
This “ space, ” which is how Harry framed his current fractured relationship with William, will now be the size of 1,000 large canyons.
And then Harry happily joined in the Sopranos-style brawl, revealing incredibly intimate secrets about his father, Prince Charles, the type he would scream in fury if they were revealed by the tabloid press.
He claimed Charles stopped taking his calls last January after he and Meghan left their country and the royal family and also cut his massive financial allowance. And Harry is still mad at his father, apparently, for letting him down.
Yet what exactly did Charles do wrong, other than trying to cope with his stubborn youngest son’s constant thirst for drama?
He funded Harry and Meghan for years, and even stepped in to accompany them down the aisle when her father pulled out after suffering a heart attack and was disowned by his daughter (where Oprah ‘nothing was wrong’ is forbidden ” does Winfrey have any questions about this?) – yet they are now paying him back with this open betrayal.
Harry unfairly says that Charles and William are “ trapped ” in the institution of the monarchy because they are the heirs to the throne.
“They can’t leave, and I have immense compassion for that,” he said.
Oh please.
He and Meghan talk endlessly of their compassion while showing the opposite of their own families.
If Charles or William wanted to leave, they could do exactly what Harry did, and what Edward VIII did when he abdicated the throne.
Any royal can “go”.
But only Edward and Harry did, both by chance after falling in love with American women.
The only difference is that Edward and Wallis Simpson never spoke ill of the royal family in public or sacked the monarchy.
Hours after Oprah’s interview aired, the hashtag #AbolishTheMonarchy was all the rage on Twitter.
This is the effect Meghan and Harry’s accusations have had with their outrageously toxic allegations.
Ms Markle will not care about the damage she has done to an institution she clearly insults.
But Harry should.
That he so willingly participated in such a despicable public attack on the royal family – HIS family – and the monarchy is utterly shameful.
And to have caused so many more injuries to her 94-year-old grandmother, the Queen, at a time when her husband is gravely ill in hospital, is simply appalling.
When it comes to mental health and having a heart, it seems Meghan and Harry only care about themselves.
