Piers Morgan stormed the filming of Hello Great Britain following a heated discussion with co-host Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle.

The couple were discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the US on Sunday night and in the UK on Monday night, when former weather presenter Beresford accused Morgan of having a vendetta against Markle because it had ended their friendship. after getting engaged to Prince Harry.

“I hear Piers say that William went through the same thing, but do you know what? The siblings are going through a tragedy in their lives and one will be perfectly fine and pull him away and the other won’t be able to face it so strongly and that is clearly what happened with Prince Harry in this situation, ”Beresford said. “He walked behind his mother’s coffin at a tender, tender age in front of the globe. It’s going to shape a young boy for the rest of his life, ”Beresford continued. “So I think we all need to take a step back.”

Beresford added: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You have said it so clearly several times in this program. A number of times. And I understand that you have a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or Elle had one and she cut you off. She has the right to interrupt you if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she interrupted you?

Morgan then got up from his seat and started to walk out saying, “OK. I’m done with this. Sorry. No. Sorry. You can destroy me, buddy, but not on my own show.”

He whispered something to Beresford, indecipherable to viewers, as he walked past him.

Beresford then told Susanna Reid and viewers, “This is absolutely evil behavior. Piers gushes out regularly. He has the ability to come in here and speak from a position where he doesn’t fully understand.”

The show then paused, with Reid saying, “I think we should just end there.”

Morgan returned to the studio to continue the discussion on racism with Beresford, Reid and Dr Hilary Jones. At the end of the segment, Morgan made a joke about healing family divisions over himself and Beresford.

“I’m not trying to come on this show and tear you down, tear you apart. Just because we’re on the same side doesn’t mean we have to have the same point of view, ”replied Beresford. “This whole situation is very personal to me and I am in no way, form or form, accusing you of being a racist,” Beresford added. “I have the luxury of knowing you on and off screen and we’ve had conversations, I know where you are and I have a lot of respect for you, Piers.

He continued, “I’m tired of finding a different way of explaining not to you, but to so many people why what has been said is so wrong. I have entered institutions as the only person of color and have experienced secret and open racism on many occasions and why Meghan’s interview really resonates with me is because a former co-worker – not on this show – asked if I was worried about the cocoa shade my son was going to put out. So I fully understand the pain behind all of this.

Morgan has now tweeted in defense of his actions: “I’d rather not just sit there listening to colleagues calling me evil.”

Morgan has previously spoken about how he was friends with Markle when she arrived in the UK as an actor. But when she started dating Prince Harry, she reportedly kicked the former tabloid editor out of her social contacts.

Morgan has always been outspoken in his condemnation of Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to leave the royal family. He rejected Meghan’s claims that she had received racist treatment by British media and also scoffed at her claims in her interview with Oprah that she was having suicidal thoughts during Archie’s pregnancy.
