Pillars of Eternity will no longer have patches on Switch, despite unresolved issues

In one statement on Twitter today, Versus Evil, the publisher of the Switch port of Pillars of Eternity, said the game will no longer receive fixes because they have “reached a limit on what we can do with our updates.”

“[We] have exhausted the options we have left of the original PC when it comes to the limitations of the hardware we work with, “Versus Evil said in the release, referring to the Nintendo Switch. As some have pointed out, the same Divinity: Original Sin 2 works great on the console, so there is probably something going on with the Pillars port that we are not aware of.

The game will apparently be left as it is now, although that includes a lot of bugs, “like the Ranger pet not appearing,” the publisher acknowledges. The game is still full price on the eShop, despite 75% off on Steam, and Versus Evil has notably not offered a refund, despite the game being released on Switch since 2019.
