Although the regular season started technically last week, as the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics have played two games in Tokyo, Japan, the rest of the league will enjoy the opening day on Thursday, March 28th.
This includes the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds, who will face off to start the season for the third time only in the last 60 years.

pirates: For the Pirates, one of the biggest stories of their season will be the further development of Jameson Taillon. Last season, he made 32 starts and posted a 3.20 ERA. If Taillon can still take a step forward, the Pirates will have a budding asset on their hands. They will need one to avoid the winery and realistically threaten for a wild card position.
The Reds: The Reds spent the winter recruiting veterans for hire. Here you will find many familiar faces, including Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, Matt Kemp and Tanner Roark. Clearly the reds are trying this season, the question is whether the effort will pay off. Cincy is stuck in the deepest division of baseball, with each team having a realistic chance of breaking .500. Considering that the Reds have not experienced a winning season since 2013, it is fair to say that the fan base has reasons to be excited.
