PITTSBURGH – Now it was Bucco Bizarro at his best.
The Pittsburgh Pirates swept three runs on Sunday when New York Mets pitcher Taijuan Walker mistakenly hit a fair ball into foul territory, prompting a savage argument in which Mets manager Luis Rojas, was ejected.
With goals loaded and an out in the first inning, Kevin Newman hit a dribbler along the third base line. The ball started in foul territory but then started to come back towards the line.
Walker dived and kicked the ball, trying to make contact while still in dirty ground. But TV reruns showed the ball hit chalk when Walker hit it, and home plate umpire Jeremy Riggs correctly called it a fair ball.

The ball rolled towards the cover of the Pirates and the Mets did not react to retrieve it, and the three Pittsburgh runners took off and came to score.
Rojas immediately ran to discuss the appeal and was quickly kicked out. Walker was charged with an error on the play, while Newman was credited with a single and an RBI.
Walker, on his first outing since pitching the All-Star Game on Tuesday night, then walked pitcher JT Brubaker and was taken out of the game. He allowed six runs on four hits and four walks while recording just one out.
