The Photobooth mode of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL camera app allows individuals, couples and even groups to take selfies more easily. Found in the Pixel Camera application under the "Plus" category, once you have pressed Photobooth and you have clicked the shutter button, a selfie will not be captured until the camera is stabilized and that everyone will have a beautiful expression with their eyes open. And in the latest version of the app (available on the Google Play Store), Photobooth has added phrases that will automatically trigger the shutter.
As Google explains, he worked with photographers to create five expressions that will automatically trigger and capture a photo. The five are "smiles, disgust, kiss / duck face, puffy cheeks and surprise." The machine learning is used to mark a frame and the shutter is triggered when the combination of the weighted scores of the expressions and the kiss score exceeds a certain level. A bar at the top of the screen (remember that these are selfies) increases in length when the photo quality score increases and the selfie is ready to be taken automatically. The length of the bar is small when there are no clearly visible faces. It expands when you see faces, but they do not pay attention to the camera, and when the faces pay attention but do not make key phrases. The bar reaches its maximum length when the faces are attentive with key phrases. At this point, the shutter automatically breaks and the selfie is captured.
"We are excited about the possibilities offered by automatic photography on camera phones, and as computer vision improves, we can usually trust smart cameras to choose a good time." Photobooth is an example of how we can corner this space – selfies and group selfies of smiles, grimaces and kisses – and give yourself a fun and useful experience. "- Google
Note that Photobooth is only available for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Previous Pixel models do not have the double selfie that we find on the latest models. This is important because Photobooth is designed to work with the wide angle front camera.
