Add to that the fact that the Pixel 3a will be one of the first phones to use the latest versions of Android as well as the affordable price, and you end up with the only reasons why you should look at this midrange phone.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 incorporates the same Snapdragon 855 processor as Samsung's Galaxy S10 phones, as well as many other leading Android products. The Pixel 4 will probably also have a Snapdragon 855 chip. The OnePlus phone contains more RAM than the Pixel 3a and offers faster UFS 3.0 flash storage: the OnePlus 7 is the only Android device to date with UFS 3.0.
You also get much faster battery charging speeds and better manufacturing quality. This means that the all-screen screen and the fingerprint sensor are integrated into the OnePlus 7 screen. Yes, it's the same design as the OnePlus 6T, but it's still way better than the Pixel 3a can offer.
Some would argue that Pixel 3a could still offer better overall performance, but OnePlus also made improvements to its own camera experience. And do not forget that you do not use the phone only to take low-light pictures, which I said when I told you how stupid it is to exchange the Pixel 3a against a newer iPhone than the iPhone 6. And the OnePlus 7 will be one of the fastest phones of the moment of its release on Friday. The pixel 3a? Not really, especially as Pixel 3, more powerful, has been the subject of much criticism of its overall performance.
Regarding the software, remember that OnePlus is one of the companies that support Android updates and quick updates, which means that OnePlus 7 phones should get Android Q sooner than the most competing handsets.
The OnePlus 7 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB costs £ 499 in the UK, and I use UK prices simply because the OnePlus 7 is not available in the US at the moment. Pixel 3a (4GB / 64GB) costs £ 399 in the region.
Some would argue that it's unfair to compare midrange phones to flagship products, and that's true, but that's what Google is doing. I just stress the fact that the new cheapest phone from OnePlus is an amazing offer. Given the narrow price difference between these two devices, there is really no reason to buy Pixel 3a.
If you're ready to spend even more, just forget the Pixel 3a and OnePlus 7 and opt for the OnePlus 7 Pro, which offers a host of new features that complement those offered by the classic OnePlus 7. The cheapest Pro costs $ 669 in the United States, or $ 270 more than the Pixel 3a.
