In many Google Pixel 4 leaks, we saw a mysterious new application simply called "Recorder" which, we assumed, would work as a voice recorder. Now we've got our hands on the app to show you what it's capable of … which is pretty much exactly what we originally thought.
Nomad Case for Pixel 3
The pre-installed "Recorder" application on Pixel 4 – at least the first units we've seen floating in various leaks – is nothing more than a simple voice / sound recorder. The application's icon is bright orange in color with an audio waveform pattern, but the interface itself is intense white by default. When you open the application, there is nothing more than a record button at the bottom of the app.
When you tap Save, the application displays the recorded sound with a live animation. The recording can be interrupted at any time and, when interrupted / stopped, an option to assign a title appears at the top of the screen. A check mark at the bottom of the interface then records this record. As the records are filled, they appear on the main screen of the application.
Once the recordings have been saved, they can be shared from the playback interface. The files themselves are do not accessible through file manager applications because they are stored in a private folder inaccessible to the user.

Of course, it would not be a Pixel 4 stock app without the support of the dark theme of Android 10. There is a manual switch in the (very limited) menu menu of the application and, by default, it follows the global rocking of the system.
What does this mean for Pixel 4? In addition to the usefulness of an integrated voice recorder, this may mean that Google takes a little more pride in the microphones of the new pixel. This is certainly a welcome improvement, as Pixel cameras have always recorded a very bad audio recording on video.
