Pixel 6 release date and price confirmed in German commercial announcement

Two of the biggest questions about the upcoming Pixel 6 series have been price and release date. Thanks to a new announcement aired in Germany, these two elements were confirmed as well as other new details.

With the Pixel 5 taking a big step forward from the flagship tier of Android phones to the upper midsize tier, this year’s Pixel 6 pricing has never been more crucial. We’ve already heard from multiple sources that Google may be considering selling the base Pixel 6 for $ 649 and the Pixel 6 Pro for $ 899. However, with no indication of when the phones were released, it was possible that Google would change things ahead of launch.

Instead, it now looks like the price of the Pixel 6 is essentially stuck, with at least one retailer sharing both the pricing and availability of the Pixel 6 series in Europe. As shared on the German online community MyDealz, via Nils Ahrensmeier, the latest promotional booklet from retailer Saturn includes a full-page ad for the Pixel 6 series.

Specifically, the announcement is for a promotion aimed at first-time buyers of the Pixel 6 series. Those who pre-order the phone from Saturn (and possibly other retailers) in the promo window – October 19-27 – will receive a Free set of Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700. While no information is given on the Pixel 6 Pro, the announcement shows that the base Pixel 6 model will indeed start at € 649.

Since this is a Pre-order Okay, the fact that it ends at 11:59 p.m. on October 27 indicates the next day, October 28, as the appropriate release date for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, at least in Germany. This means fans won’t have to wait long after the next event on October 19 to get their hands on Google’s latest flagship.

Another quirk on the list is the mention of “face recognitionWhich translates to “facial recognition”. So far, we haven’t seen any other strong indicators that Google is bringing facial recognition back to the Pixel 6. The feature debuted on the Pixel 4, with help from the built-in Soli sensor, but wasn’t present. on the Pixel 5. It’s possible that facial recognition here is just a reference to the Familiar Faces feature of the Google Camera, but it’s mentioned in the same dot as the fingerprint sensor.
