The Google Pixel 6 can be remarkable for the way you buy it, not just what it offers. Tech News Veteran Mr. Brandon Lee complaints disclosing details of a “Pixel Pass” subscription that would bundle phone payments with an Apple One-style set of services. Your monthly fee would include both a Pixel 6 as well as an extended warranty, Google One, Play Pass, and YouTube Music / Premium. You can attach it to Google Fi if you want, but there would be a version for users who want to choose a different carrier.
It’s unclear how much a Pixel Pass would cost. The leaked document suggests that it could be just the US, although we don’t rule out launches in countries where full One, Play Pass, and YouTube services are available. Lee got separate information suggesting that the initial EU price would start at € 649 (around $ 750) for the standard Pixel 6 and € 899 ($ 1,040) for the Pixel 6 Pro.
The benefit for Google would be clear: It could persuade Pixel 6 buyers to pay for services they would otherwise ignore, providing the company with recurring revenue instead of a one-time sale. It might also discourage you from switching to a competing phone by making the switch more expensive. It won’t necessarily bother you. It could ease the shock of buying Android’s new flagship, especially if you’re already planning to subscribe to at least one Google service.
