The latest addition to Pizza Hut’s menu: Beyond Meat sausage.
The pizza chain, owned by Yum Brands, teamed up with the California-based vegetable meat producer on Tuesday, bringing its first pizzas with plant-based meat substitutes to consumers nationwide.

For a limited time, consumers will be able to choose between the Beyond Italian Sausage Pizza, which is the company’s classic cheese pizza topped with plant-based Beyond Italian Sausage, or the Great Beyond Pizza, topped with vegetables and sausage.
Since March, Pizza Hut has served more than 24 million contactless digital orders, with consumers staying at home due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Yum Brands reported that Pizza Hut’s comparable store sales growth in the United States increased 6% in the third quarter.

Yum Brands CEO David Gibbs noted that the company’s overall third quarter results were “encouraging” and demonstrated “the resilience of the Yum portfolio!
Although Beyond Meat’s business grew in the early days of the pandemic and the economic shutdowns that followed, the company has recently faced headwinds. Beyond Meat’s foodservice business sales fell 11% in the third quarter.

“The company continues to expect to benefit consumer demand for home food products in its retail network,” management said in its 2020 outlook of its income statement.
The latest collaboration between the two companies goes beyond the US market. From Tuesday, customers in parts of the UK will also be able to try out the new set of pizza toppings.
Offers in the US and UK will only be available for a limited time while supplies last at all traditional Pizza Hut restaurants nationwide and select Pizza Hut Express locations.
