Frontier Developments has released a new video detailing the gameplay of Zoo Planet, his next spiritual successor Zoo Tycoon.
The vertical slice presented comes from the seventh chapter of the game, located in the tropical Indian subcontinent. The setting of the level influences the architecture of the zoo, which crosses traditional structures of the Indian palace type with colorful avenues of New Delhi style to accommodate pedestrian traffic. The desert environment will also offer a number of unique challenges that aspiring digital keepers will face, including stifling temperatures and limited water supply.
The importance of safe water is one of the problems in Zoo Planet video, actually. The demonstration presented is an overview of the presentation at Gamescom, which presented many operational challenges to overcome. One of these problems was that the water in the Gharial's habitat was dirty, which could make the animals unhappy or even make them sick. The solution is to integrate a water treatment facility in the zoo, ideally out of sight of visitors, because it is a bit unsightly.
Other issues solved in the survey include the jig in pronghorn and tapir habitats to ensure that they have the flora and toys needed to satisfy them and, more seriously, fight an escaped Indian rhinoceros of 4,600 pounds.
Zoo Planet goes out on November 5th for PC. An open beta will run from October 24 to 8. You can access it by pre-booking the game on Steam.
