The timing of the change on the PlatinumGames site with the recent interview with Hideki Kamiya hints at a possible Bayonetta 3 update.
PlatinumGames has launched several announcements since last year on its website, four of which have already been revealed. However, one of the remaining uncovered announcements was changed in 2021. This update corresponds to a recent interview with Hideki Kamiya, in which he revealed that we will know more about the game’s development later this year. This update was given during recent Arcade Archives feeds, in which he briefly looked at his current projects.
He spoke for the last time Bayonetta 3 in May 2020 in a full interview as he reassured fans that Bayonetta 3 has not been canceled. After being questioned by the interviewer “Finally, Kamiya-san, do you miss being asked about where? Bayonetta 3 is still? Kamiya replied:
I’m on Twitter so I see a lot of comments every day. I’m glad there is still anticipation for the title, but one thing I would like to address is the trend I’m seeing, which is people starting to ask if the game has been canceled. I want you to take into account any concerns you have like that and immediately throw them out the window because we are still working hard on this and it has not been canceled in any way. Look forward to it!
In February, the Bayonetta and Vanquish 10th Anniversary Pack released for Xbox One and PS4. We looked at it and “apart from a nice steel case for the physical edition, the Bayonetta and Vanquish 10th Anniversary Pack doesn’t have much else to offer. PlatinumGames had also posted on its official website an interview with staff working on the in-house engine the studio developed, which has been tentatively titled Platinum Engine.
PlatinumGames also announced in 2020 that four big announcements, the Platinum 4, are coming up and three of them have already taken place. The Marvelous 101 Remaster Kickstarter. The revelation of GG Project, a new game produced by Hideki Kamiya and in the tradition of Viewtiful Joe and The wonderful 101. And the launch of a new PlatinumGames studio in Tokyo. The fourth and final announcement has yet to be shared, but PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba have announced that it will be coming soon and that it will be something great.
In lighter news, PlatinumGames and Hideki Kamiya posted their own April Fool’s Day 2020 joke on April 1 as the fourth and final Platinum 4 announcement. Through a video posted to their official Twitter account, PlatinumGames unveils its new arcade system, the Neo-Classic Arcade, and its first game, Sol Presta, apparently developed in conjunction with Hamster Corp.
