In case you missed it, PlayStation has tested a new game play feature in some regions for the PlayStation 5. Specifically, both Death Stranding Director’s Cup and Sackboy: a great adventure have both been made completely free on a trial basis for a limited time for people in the UK. And it looks like there’s at least one more video game in the mix now, but apparently not for PS5: Biomutant.
The announcement of Biomutant participating in the Game Trials feature was done recently and is largely consistent with the previous two titles. According to the video game’s official Twitter account, the Biomutant The trial play is also only available until the very end of October 28 and lasts for five hours in total. This one is also only available in the UK and Canada, while the previous two titles were said to have been limited to the UK.
Biomutant is part of Sony @PlayStation play trials! If you are in UK or Canada you can download the game right now.

However, there are some major caveats attached to the Game Trials feature, and that goes for the addition of Biomutant also. The duration of the trial – the five hours of full accessibility – begins when the download begins, and it appears to be for the PS4 version of Biomutant only, which is contrary to the game tests for both Death Stranding Director’s Cup and Sackboy: a great adventure being for PS5 only. Once the time limit for one of the tries has elapsed, whether or not you have played during that time, players will then have to purchase the title at full price to continue playing if they wish.
As for Biomutant itself, the video game is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s slated to release versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in the future, but it’s playable on those consoles via backward compatibility. Our test of the PS4 version, played on PS5, gave Biomutant a 3 out of 5. You can check out all of our previous coverage of Biomutant here.
