The free PlayStation Plus games for September 2021 were reportedly leaked yesterday. That said, while the leak quickly made the rounds and deceived many PS4 and PS5 players, it turns out that it was not only inaccurate, but wrong. Sony has yet to reveal the free PlayStation Plus games for September, but a developer on one of the “smart” games has confirmed that the game will not be free for PS Plus subscribers next month, and has therefore confirmed that the leak was fraudulent.

While we still don’t know which games PlayStation Plus subscribers on PS4 and PS5 will receive next month, we do know the lineup won’t include The way from the Bloober team. The psychological horror game debuted on January 28 via the Xbox Series X | S PC. Next month, September 3, it should arrive on PS5. At the time that date was announced, many speculated that it could be a PlayStation Plus giveaway, as this is usually the part of the month that PlayStation Plus games go live. Perhaps clinging to this speculation, the aforementioned leak threw Mediums name, prompting the Bloober team to quickly end the rumor and dash the hopes and dreams of PlayStation Plus subscribers.

“People ask me if it’s true. The way will launch on PS5 on September 3, with support for DualSense, but it will definitely not be available on PlayStation Plus, ”wrote a developer from the Bloober Team before the studio’s official Twitter account confirmed it.

While PlayStation Plus subscribers will have to wait a bit longer to find out which free games they will receive next month, it shouldn’t be long. The official announcement is expected to arrive later this week, likely Thursday, or at least that’s what the service’s history suggests it will happen.
