Pokemon Go adds, then removes the bright Pokemon

Pokemon Go added brilliant variants of several species of Pokemon to the game, but then removed them from the game. Chicago is organizing the third edition of the Pokemon Go Fest, a live event organized by Niantic that offers players a chance to catch a Pokemon rare and participate in special events in the game. As part of the festivities this weekend, Niantic announced that players around the world could now get the Shiny version of Horsea at Pokemon Go. however, Pokemon Go Fest participants who arrived at the event early Thursday reported that brilliant versions of Abra and Clefairy were being bred in place of Shiny Horsea.

Unfortunately, the additions of Shiny Abra and Clefairy were apparently a mistake. Abra and Clefairy were quickly traded with Horsea, and the players did not find any other Shiny Abra or Clefairy in the wild. Players attending the Pokemon Go Fest reported to Niantic staff attending the event that Shiny Abra and Clefairy had been added by mistake. We note that players can still get Shiny Clefairy by hatching a Pokemon egg containing a Brilliant Cleffa, which was added to the game in February.

Brilliant Pokémon have different colorations of normal Pokémon and are prized for their rarity. Shiny Horsea has a turquoise skin instead of her usual light blue, Shiny Clefairy has ears at the green end, and Shiny Abra is slightly paler than her normal forms.

Players looking for Pokemon Brilliant this weekend can still benefit from Pokemon Go Fest, even though Shiny Abra and Clefairy are no longer available in the wild. Silph Road reports that shiny Pokemon are appearing at an accelerated pace around the world. While Pokemon Go Fest players seem to have the best chance, players anywhere can still benefit from increased rates until Pokemon Go Fest ends this weekend.
