How to catch

No caption provided

Before you can catch the Legendary Pokémon, you will first have to go to a gym holding a five – star raid and challenge it. Fortunately, legendary raids will be sure to take place during the aforementioned time, so it should be easy to find a gym to visit. Like other legendary, Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie have a high CP. You will have to team up with several other players in person if you want to fight them. Once the legendary has been defeated, each raid participant will receive a handful of Premier bullets with the ability to catch them.

Best Pokemon to use against Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie

The three Legendary Pokémon are pure psychic types. Therefore, no matter what type you encounter, you will usually want to use the same strategy. Dark, Ghost and Bug Pokemon all have an advantage over Psychic types. Your best bet will therefore be to bring Giratina, Tyranitar, Houndoom, Weavile and Scizor. Gengar will also inflict super-effective damage on the legendary, but with Poison's secondary typing he will be dealt extremely effective damage.

Despite their similar appearance, Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie all have slightly different stats and sets, which you should be aware of before challenging them. Azelf deals the most damage but is the weakest defensively; Uxie excels in defense; and Mesprit falls between the two. You can find more tips for catching the legendary on the official Pokemon website.

Other bonuses

Although Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie are only there for a limited time, you will have until August 30 to enjoy the other bonuses of the Water Festival. Throughout the event, water-type Pokémon like Magikarp, Wailmer and others spawn in the wild more often than usual, and if you're close to a plan, Water, you will have a greater chance of finding the following Pokémon:

  • Wortortle
  • Poliwhirl
  • scathing
  • Lapras
  • Qwilfish
  • Coat
  • Lotad
  • Feebas
  • Piplup
  • Buizel
  • Finneon

In addition, brilliant versions of Carvanha and Barboach appear in the wild, and Water Pokémon are more likely to be born. Separately, Niantic will soon deploy a set of Ultra bonuses for the game, which includes the arrival of Gen 5 Pokemon. The mythical Jirachi is also available in a new series of special search quests titled A Thousand Years' Sleep.
