The research quests, which allow you to complete the rewards goals, were introduced in Pokmon Go in March 2018.

There are two types of search quests: field searches and special searches. Unlike field research tasks, which include a range of challenges and can be completed at any time, special search tasks are the same for all players and have a defined order, a story.

A thousand-year-old's sleep is the fourth in the Pokmon Go special search quest series dedicated to mythical Pokmon. The three previous ones being for Mew, Celebi and Meltan.

The way these previous quests brought you to a mythical Pokmon, A Thousand Years Sleep, assists you in investigating Professor Willow's investigation of one of the legendary Pokmon in the Hoenn – Jirachi area.

The quest is divided into seven stages, each consisting of three individual challenges. You will be rewarded for each individual challenge and each step you complete. Finally, once you have completed all the steps, you will have the opportunity to catch Jirachi.

There is no restriction on when you can finish a thousand-year-old's sleep. Visit the Search tab to start waking Jirachi.

How to complete each of the steps of Jirachi's quest "A Thousand Years Sleep"

Here are the seven steps and their rewards for A Thousand Years Sleep. Be warned – there are spoilers below, so if you do not want to know what each goal entails, consider skipping this section.

How Jirachi debuted in Pokmon Go

Just like Celebi before, Jirachi was originally only available at the 2019 Go Fests around the world.

Jirachi made his first appearance at Go Fest 2019 in Chicago, June 13-31, 2019. Participants were able to catch the Mythical Pokmon after completing a series of exclusive Go-Fest special search quests.

This involved performing various tasks, including:

• Make three new friends
• Catch three Unown
• Take snapshots of various creatures captured in different habitats through Go Fest
• Swap three creatures captured over 100 km

Once these tasks were completed, participants were able to add Jirachi to their Pokdex.

Jirachi has been released around the world alongside the 2019 Ultra Bonuses.

Despite its rarity, Jarchi has disappointing statistics, which means that its true value comes from the satisfaction of seeing its registration to Pokdex filled. All the more so that mythical Pokemon can not be traded against Pokmon Go.

Jirachi's design was inspired by the superstition of "wishing a star". The turquoise paper tags hanging from his head are a reference to the tanzaku, which are the pieces of paper on which people write their wishes during Tanabata. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Jirachi could be downloaded during Tanabata.

There are more mythical Pokerns to come, since each generation has its own mythical Pokmon.
