Pokemon Go players are furious at Niantic’s changes to PokeStop

Last year, Pokémon Go Developer Niantic has made a number of changes to the game to help gamers stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, including a shorter range required to run PokeStops. Today, Niantic reversed that change, forcing players to get much closer to get items like Poke Balls. Many fans are disappointed with this, given that the pandemic is far from over, and there are even petitions to restore the change. Now that the change is in effect in the game, a significant number of fans seem unhappy, and many have taken to social media to tell Niantic how they feel about the PokeStop distance decrease.

Many find him irresponsible on the basis of the Delta variant.

There’s nothing more I can add to the conversation around Niantic and Pokemon Go that others haven’t already said.

Removing added features for COVID is a step backwards in accessibility for many gamers, is irresponsible with the Delta variant, and is just an overall quality of life nerve.

Some threaten to give up the game …

@NianticLabs I used to spend a good amount of money on it, but I stopped playing Pokemon Go for a few years. The pandemic made me come back.
The decision to reduce the Pokestop interaction distance will probably cause me to uninstall the app again for a few years.
