Pokemon Go Rayquaza Raid: Markers and a strategy to get Rayquaza – but not brilliant this time

[ad_1]

Legendary Dragon and Pokemon Rayquaza flying type is back Pokemon Go Raid boss a weekend in March – and you will have to make sure that your Rayquaza counters are willing to abuse and exploit its weaknesses if you want to have the hope of winning a chance to catch your own Rayquaza.

As an event of limited duration, you will always want to think about your plan for Rayquaza in Pokemon Go in advance. Once the event has started, you will only have a few days to gather a group of coaches and defeat the legendary Dragon (formerly boss of Super Smash Bros, so you know it's hard sewing) – and – An evening prepared with many obstacles to the weaknesses and strengths of any ultra-stiff raid leader will give you a much better hope in this regard. So, here are our tips for getting ready, feeding the Pokémon you need for these extremely challenging raids, as well as everything you need to know about this limited event.

Pokémon Go Rayquaza Special Raid Weekend: event date, start time and end time

Rayquaza is a powerful and busy Pokemon, so he does not have the time to expect coaches. As such, it's only in the Pokemon Go Gym Raids for a limited time. Beyond Ray (we call him now), the current list of Pokemon Go Raid leaders remains in place.

Rayquaza will appear randomly between the following dates and times:

  • Rayquaza Raid Start of the event: March 15, 2019, at 9:00 pm English time, at 10:00 pm CET, 3:00 pm EST, 1:00 pm MST
  • Rayquaza Raid Event End: March 18, 2019, at 9:00 pm UK time, at 10:00 pm CET, at 3:00 pm EST, at 1:00 pm PST

Once you have won the raid, you will have a chance to catch a Rayquaza – a very powerful legendary Pokémon.

And what about Shiny Rayquaza? Unfortunately, this time, the developer of Pokemon Go, Niantic, has confirmed that this event will not give the chance to catch a brilliant Rayquaza – to distinguish it from other events of this type and to create some confusion. No shine this time, though – that's it.

Pokemon Go Rayquaza Raid: counters, weaknesses, strategy and advice

You have programmed your time this weekend – you must now prepare to fully fight Rayquaza, and this guy is tough. Fortunately, you can take steps to make it easier to manage. Let's start with some facts about the boss:

As a boss, Rayquaza will have between 49,000 and 50,000 PCs. Naturally, this means that there is nothing to do with a possible solo raid. Ideally, you will need two to four high level coaches (level 30 and up), and if you are brave enough to face this boss in a lower level situation, you will need more than that – a lot more. Prepare and send SMS to your friends accordingly!

Once the Rayquaza counters and exploitation of weaknesses have defeated you, you will have the chance to catch it. Its Catch CP base will be between 2102 CP and 2191 CP, while its boosted CP (in windy weather) will reach 2627 CP or more.

Finally, here are the movements that Rayquaza should have:

  • Dragon's Tail (fast, dragon type)
  • Air Slash (fast, flying type)
  • Aerial Ace (loaded, flying type)
  • Old Power (charged, rock type)
  • Outrage (accused, dragon type)

Rayquaza Counters & Weakness List for raids

Rayquaza is a beast of Pokémon, do not get me wrong, but its dual type of Dragon and Flying has unique implications in that you can remove it if you plan well in advance. Specifically, Rayquaza's double type means that he has a dual weakness with ice-type Pokémon and that he moves, making it the best choice to use.

All in all, the Rayquaza counters are quite easy to find: they are low in ice (x2), dragon, fairy and rock type Pokemon and move. This is a good game of Pokemon-type weaknesses to exploit. Be careful, Rayquaza is strong against Bug, Dragon, Combat and Grass type Pokémons and moves with its type affinity.

Also remember that Weather Boost can have an effect on counters – we would avoid fighting Rayquaza in windy conditions if you could help it, unless you were fighting yourself with a dragon type Pokémon – but Rayquaza is strong against them, so that should not be an option. The snowy weather could drastically reverse the course of the battle, but it's obviously a deeply entrenched situation.

According to the type weaknesses and the list of Pokemon Go Best Pokemon levels, you will find below the Pokemon which, in our opinion, are the best markers to defeat Rayquaza at the event, as well as the movements that will help them stay efficient – and it's very cold:

  • Mamoswine (with powder and avalanche)
  • Weaving (with ice flakes and avalanches)
  • Ice (with Frost Breath & Avalanche)
  • Cloyster (with Frost Breath & Avalanche)
  • Article (with frost blast and ice ray)
  • Jynx (with Frost Breath & Avalanche)
  • Lapras (with frost blast and ice ray)
  • Glalie (with Frost Breath & Avalanche)

If you are looking for options other than ice cream, here are some suggestions:

  • Mewtwo is great and can also learn Ice Beam if you are lucky.
  • Dragonite can be very useful with Dragon Tail and Draco Meteor, but its health will be reduced just as quickly thanks to the dragon strike
  • The old Tyranitar combo of Smack Down and Stone Edge is solid even in this scenario
