Here's everything we know about Team Go Rocket in Pokmon Go.
Go Rocket Team have the intention to enter Pokmon Go with invasions and they bring Shadow Pokmon with them.
The arrival of Team Go Rocket was first teased after the Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago in 2019. Once the event ended, Team Go Rocket Grunts began to appear on the photos taken by festival-goers with the photo mode Pokmon Go AR.
Then, at the Pokmon Go Fest in Dortmund later that year, not only did the Grunt photobombins come back, but a Team Go Rocket hot air balloon floated in the air.
Although we do not know when Team Go Rocket will invade our phones, thanks to dated information (Kelven91 and martycochrane via reddit and Chrales via Twitter), we have an idea of what this event will look like.

How will Team Go Rocket invasions work in Pokmon Go?
For the moment, we do not know exactly how the Team Go invasion will take place in Pokmon Go, but thanks to the datamining capabilities of Chrales on Twitter, we can get a good idea.
datamined dialogue for Team Go Rocket Grunts suggests that the Go Team Rocket combat structure will be:
- Team Go Rocket will invade a PokStop.
- You will be able to fight against them and their Shadow Pokemon.
- In case of defeat, the Grunt will give up his Shadow Pokmon.
- You will have the opportunity to catch this Pokmon Shadow.
- If caught, you will need to purify the Shadow Pokemon.
This suggests that fighting between Team Go Rocket and Shadow Pokmon will work the same way as the Raids (an idea supported by Kelven91 and martycochrane on reddit.)
Catching Shadow Pokemon seems to work the same way as catching defeated Raid Bosses. You will receive a base number of PokBalls, then bonuses will be rewarded based on your performance against Team Go Rocket Grunt. If you run out of balls, you will have to defeat the Grunt again to have another chance to catch the Pokemon Shadow.
It has also been discovered that each Go Rocket Grunt team will be assigned a Pokmon type. It is currently unknown to know what type of Pokemon a Grunt has been assigned, but this would certainly facilitate the search for specific Pokemon Shadow.
You will also be able to fight Team Go Rocket as a solo player or as a group, which suggests the possibility that battles will unfold in the same way as the Raids.

New Pokemon Go quests for Team Go Rocket Invasion
Two new quests will be published as part of the Team Go Rocket Invasion update. It can be assumed that these quests are in the Special Field Searches tab next to the Quick Start search and other special search tasks.

- Purifier: Purify [X amount of] Pokmon Shadow.
- Hero: Defeat [X amount of] Team Go Rocket Grunts.

What is the road marker in Pokmon Go?
We currently know three things about the road marker: this is a new element of Pokmon Go, probably related to the invasion by Go Rocket Team and it's called the road marker.
The name, however, gives us an idea of what this new element could do. Namely, mark a route on the map in game. It is possible that the road marker is used to guide you to the Pokerstops invaded by Team Go Rocket.
