Pokémon Go: The More They Fly Special Search

Pokémon Go’s GO Rocket team is back with more special research and another chance to challenge Giovanni. Starting February 28, 2021, coaches can begin The Higher They Fly, a special six-step research that rewards players with Super Rocket radar to track down and beat the lead of Team GO Rocket. What is Team GO Rocket anyway?

Based on the original Pokémon antagonists, Team Rocket is an infamous criminal organization led by Giovanni. The group seeks to steal valuable Pokémon and force them to continue Giovanni’s efforts. In Pokémon Go, the group is pretty much the same, known as Team GO Rocket. Basically, it’s the villains who have been missing from the game since day one.

About once a month, you can do a Special Research to take on their leader, Giovanni, and potentially save a Legendary Shadow Pokémon from him. While these special research lines don’t expire, you can only complete one per month, even if you haven’t completed the previous months, so be sure to complete one every month so you don’t not miss a chance at another Shadow Legendary Pokémon.

Can I start right away?

Probably but unlike other special research, players must complete specific special research lines to start The Dark Threat Grows. If you haven’t completed A Disturbing Situation and a previously launched Team GO Rocket Special Research Line, you’ll need to complete it first. Fortunately, An Unsettling Situation is pretty quick and we’ve got a guide to walk you through it quickly. Looming in the shadows, difficult development, recovery continues and a teacher’s job is never done takes longer – a month each, to be exact.

You also need to be at least level eight to begin this special research.

The more they fly

Once you’ve completed the previous Team GO Rocket Special Research lines, you’ll find The Higher They Fly in your Special Research Quests list. This special research is divided into six stages of three tasks each.

The first step

1. Win a Raid for 15 PokéBalls.
2. Defeat three Team GO Rocket Grunts for three Hyper Potions.
3. Catch a Shadow Pokémon for three Revives.

Completion rewards: ten Razz berries, ten Nanab berries, ten Pinap berries.

Second step

1. Catch five Shadow Pokémon for a Sun Stone.
2. Make three nice Curveball throws in a row for 15 large balls.
3. Catch ten Flying-type Pokémon for an encounter with Doduo *.

Completion rewards: 10 Mega Pidgeot Energy, 1500 XP, 500 Stardust.

Third step

1. Purify five Shadow Pokémon for 30 Mega Pidgeot Energy.
2. Defeat five Team GO Rocket Grunts for 30 Mega Pidgeot Energy.
3. Earn three walking candies with your Pokémon Buddy for 30 Mega Pidgeot Energy.

Completion rewards: Rocket Radar, encounter with Pidgeot, 2000 XP.

Step four

1. Defeat Arlo, the Go Rocket team leader, for 1,250 XP.
2. Defeat Cliff, Go Rocket Team Leader, for 1,250 XP.
3. Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Sierra for 1,250 XP.

Completion rewards: Super Rocket Radar, 2,500 XP, 1,000 Stardust.

Fifth step

1. Find the Team Go Rocket Boss for five Max Potions.
2. Fight Team Go Rocket Boss for 20 Ultra Balls.
3. Defeat Team Go Rocket Boss for five Max Revives.

Completion Rewards: FastTM, ChargedTM, 3000 XP.

Sixth step

1. Automatically completed for 2000 XP.
2. Automatically completed for 2000 XP.
3. Automatically completed for 2000 XP.

Completion rewards: Premium Battle Pass, two Golden Razz Berries, two Silver Pinap Berries.
