Pokémon United announced the release date of a new Pokémon. Mamoswine will be added to the game on September 29, just a week after developer Tencent released a mobile version of the popular MOBA-style game. Mamoswine’s role in the game is unknown. However, a spotlight video posted by Tencent showed several of the Pokémon’s moves that focus on knocking down opponents with its large tusks and freezing them with multiple ice moves. This fits in with Mamoswine’s role in the main game, where the Pokemon has impressive attack stats but poor defense. You can check out the Mamoswine preview below:

Pokémon United is a free-to-play MOBA-style game featuring 5v5 team battles. Players control a single Pokémon and level it up by defeating wild Pokémon and opponents. Players also collect Aeos energy from wild Pokémon and try to score goals from their opponent’s side. While the game lacks several features of traditional Pokémon games (like type perks), it’s still a fun mix of MOBA-style tactics and classic Pokémon. Although the game is free to play, players must purchase Unite licenses from the in-game store in order to use these Pokémon in matches. Unite licenses can be purchased either using Aeos Coins, an in-game currency earned by playing matches, or using premium currency purchased with real money.

Mamoswine is one of two new Pokémon to come Pokémon United soon. Tencent also announced that Sylveon will be coming to the game in the coming weeks. Sylveon was a bit of a surprise due to Pokemon’s branching evolutionary line, but it looks like Tencent wanted to pick an Eevee evolution and stick with it for now.

Pokemon Unite has just released a major update to the game that adds three new owned items and makes it easier to upgrade those owned items. This removed a major obstacle to the game, as players could pay to upgrade held items faster, which gave them an advantage in combat.

Pokémon United is now available as a free game on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
