A game that deserves more love is the title developed by Bandai Namco Switch, Wii U and arcade, Pokkén tournament.
He has been well received on all three occasions, but since then fans of this unique fighter have wondered if there will be any future follow-ups. A Twitter follower of Katsuhiro Harada (the director of Tekken 7 and a producer on Pokkén) asked the industry icon if he’d be ready to return for a sequel.
While Harada certainly “would like” – as usual, this is yet another situation that is beyond the control of the actual developer (in this case, Bandai Namco). As noted below, it’s ultimately Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. On a more promising note, Bandai Namco obviously has a good – if not excellent – relationship with these two parties.
The most that Nintendo has done in recent times, when it comes to Pokkén Tournament, is to offer a trial to Switch Online subscribers in July of last year. As Pokémon’s 25th anniversary takes place next month, who knows what could happen.
As for Harada, earlier this month he hinted that his new Bandai Namco game was possibly the most expensive project the Japanese publisher has ever given the green light – and it might not even be a fighting game!
