Biało-Czerwoni clash in the League of Nations

Polish volleyball players of the defeat with the Russians 1: 3 began to participate in the final tournament of the first edition of the League of Nations Nations. The Reds, to keep the chance to qualify for the semifinal, must defeat the Americans Thursday in a duel of Group B in Lille.

These teams clashed at the end of May in the second queue of intercontinental matches. Biało-Czerwoni won in Krakow 3: 0. The Russians then had many young players backed by the experienced Dmitry Muserski and played in a very chaotic manner at the time

From week to week, however, they improved day by day. In the intercontinental phase, coach Sergiej Szlapnikow has saved several of his stars – striker Maxim Mikhailov and central Artem Wołwicz. According to the predictions of the Poles, he will take them to Lille and will prove to be the key figures of the meeting of the European champions and the gold medalists of the London Olympics in 1969.

The coach of the Reds and Whites Vital Heynen brings to France experienced players: libero Paweł Zatorski and playmakers Fabian Drzyzga and Grzegorz Łomacz. At the party and at the attack, however, he put a lot of effort on the less experienced players.

They helped the rival

The meeting began with the Poles 3: 1, but the rivals quickly took the situation (8: 4). Mateusz Bieńka was replaced by Bartłomiej Lemański in the center. Bartosz Kurek could not cross the crossbar Sborna and on the other side Mikhailov and Wołwicz scored. When the attacker of the Polish national team stopped the first of the Russians, a table at 10:10 appeared on the board. However, the rivals have still jumped because of the efficiency of Mikhailov and Dmitry Volkov. The latter showed two consecutive service points and his team won 23:16. Heynen's changes have not changed much. Maciej Muzaj came into play on the pitch during the second set-up

For the second half of the match, there was a point fight for the point. The efficiency impressed Kurek, who constantly pushed the ball into the hands of the opponents. Mikhailov invariably shone on the other side. Problems with the acceptance of Wołwicz 's service and playing the action meant that Sborna won 17:14. The Reds helped their enemies by breaking three services in a row. The end of the meeting was a duel to attack both teams. The last point, however, went to Muserski who had less success before.

They left in the fourth set

They want to fight to extend their chances, the Poles did not give up this meeting. With a good match of Artur Szalpuk, they led by 7: 4. The advantage decreased to a point after the ace of Muserski (9: 8). The Red-Whites did not give up, and among them still the Rooster. The pride of this part of the meeting was the action in which in the skyscraper duel in the middle, measuring 2.17 m, Lemański stopped Muserski by one centimeter (16:12). It is only in this installment that Szlapnikov made the first change in the line-up. The Russians had a much weaker time – they often beat their licks. In this way – in the third set of Poles' football – the point made them to Kliuk.

Sborna has returned to a good command since the beginning of the next feast. Muserski in the condition 2: 3 felt Lemański for the block in the previous installment. Neither Kurek nor Muzaj, who later replaced him, could do much. The advantage of the Russians was increasing rapidly. Admittedly, from 6:13, Biało-Czerwoni scored four points in a row, but then the opponents continued their show, and the shares won by the Heynen team were only interludes. The meeting ended with the attack of Kliuk

The leader of Biało-Czerwonych was Kurek, who scored 23 points. In the Russian team 17 points Wołkow noted, and one less Michajłow. The Poles scored five effective blocks and three aces. Sborna had them – respectively 12 and 9.
