The guest of Katarzyna Gójska on the program of the Republika Republika "W point" was Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło. The program commented on justice reform – On the one hand, it is incredible and very regrettable that the representatives of a group of judges who should watch over the law, representatives of the judiciary, show that They really do not know the law passed. You may disagree with some solutions, that is democracy, it is a political discussion, but if a law is passed in a democratic system, every citizen is obliged to follow them, not to mention the representatives of the environment of the judges – says in the program.
– I can only regret that last year, precisely at that time, we failed to complete this reform – a well-prepared judicial reform. The work on these laws lasted a long time – they were consulted, they were accepted, there were many discussions around all the acts of the court – recalled Beata Szydło.
– From the beginning, we realized that it would not be easy to implement the reform and that the resistance of the environment would be very great. On the other hand, if I remember correctly, since the beginning of the campaign, it was the problem of the courts that was one of the most frequent problems in the context of the reforms – emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
– Public support was and it seemed we were on the right track to complete this affair. Today I can say yes – if then we would have the courage to put an end to this reform of the courts, maybe no one would talk about it any more. Perhaps, in addition to the judges and the European Commission, who would have some questions, but we would have been in advance – added interview Katarzyna Gójska.
– Unfortunately, the chaos is right now, but on the other hand, it is clearly defined in the law, which can act as president of the Supreme Court. There is no discussion here. There is a statutory change. The law has not been appealed to the Constitutional Court – said Beata Szydło.
– Who, if not, should the judge apply the law? This discussion, if Mrs. Gersdorf is, is not … She feels. Each of us can feel who she is not. According to the law, Ms. Gersdorf is not the first president of the Supreme Court – stressed the politician.
– On the one hand, it is incredible and regrettable that representatives of a group of judges who must watch over the law, representatives of the judiciary, show that they really neglect the law which was adopted. One may disagree with some solutions, such is democracy, it is a political discussion, but if the law is adopted in a democratic system, every citizen is obliged to apply it, not to mention the representatives of the circles of judges – she assessed.
– Here is such an ostentatious disregard for the laws that have been passed, the parliament, the president, but most of all, the lack of respect for the Poles. This group shows Poles – we can do everything, we can do everything and say and we are above the law. It's outrageous and unbelievable. On the other hand, it is still the last bastion of forces that wants to overthrow the rule of law and justice, stop the changes we introduce. Right now, they are using the case to hit the government, the United Right, to stop this reform process. This political game is now entangled in order to prevent changes in the judicial system – said Beata Szydło.
– The best evidence is what Prime Minister Morawiecki said yesterday, that this change, which we are making in the judicial system, is necessary, because there are still people in the courts who have ruled in martial law. I ask you – even a man who is appointed for a deputy or a successor to Mrs. Gersdorf. (…) This unfortunately shows the seriousness of the situation in which our country is still present. If we think that after these changes, which have already been introduced by the Law and Justice Government, we can be calm and we can calmly consider that Poland has this autonomy, sovereignty, that we find justice, all those who think that this should be the case of Judge Iwulski and consider how it is possible for such a man to be appointed by Ms Gersdorf as his successor – stressed the deputy prime minister.
