Łódź will be the first Polish city in which the 5G network will be launched. This will be possible thanks to the consent of the Ministry of Digitization, the joint actions of the authorities and Ericsson, who signed a letter of intent yesterday. The introduction of 5G in Łódź is a pilot project and at the same time emphasizes the role of Łódź Special Economic Zone.

The 5G network will be a very interesting addition to the opportunities offered at the Lodz Special Economic Zone. As a result, the region will gain in attractiveness and should attract new investments. From Ericsson's point of view and from the park, it's also a way to support small and medium businesses in building new solutions using 5G – after all, the network will be nothing without solutions that take advantage of his abilities. At the conference yesterday, also announced the creation of an accelerator named S5, which will support young companies in their construction and acquisition of financing for implementation. S5 is an extension of the existing Startup Spark program, which incubates startups in the region.

Do you remember how Bogusław Linda said that Lodz is the dead city of menela ? The report of the Ministry of Digitization seems completely different. The city is conveniently located and is an important transportation hub, necessary to test 5G networks on a larger scale. In addition, it has strong academic centers, is developing rapidly, and the authorities are ripe and ready to cooperate on the experience. This is why Łódź had the privilege of launching the first 5G network in Poland.

However, we do not know when the network will start. For the moment, park employees have undergone extensive training provided by Ericsson, and the next step will be to show entrepreneurs the potential for a fast wireless connection with slight delays. The advantages are numerous, also for the city of Łódź and its inhabitants. The presence of innovative companies in development is expected to boost the digital development of the city and the introduction of modern solutions in the public space. This includes, inter alia, the traffic control system, parking systems, health service communication and crisis management, water quality testing, etc., until the end of the day. the rapid transmission of data in our homes. Let's hope that expectations will be met and that these mythical men will go elsewhere.

The Ministry of Digitalization believes that the 5G network in Poland must already be useful in 2020 and by 2025 it should cover the urban areas and main transport routes in Poland.
