SKOK far from curing – Bankier.pl

In the two co-operative savings and credit unions, receivers' receivers were to be appointed; soon, more can join them – informs "Rzeczpospolita" of Tuesday.

The financial situation of savings and credit cooperatives remains weak. The latest manifestation is the problems of two large cash registers: Piast and Jaworzno, which the SKOK system has failed to help and that they have to ask for bank bailouts.

The magnitude of the problems is visible not only on the poor results and write-offs of large loans, but also on the number of funds covered by the corrective procedures – there are up to 24 (plus Kasa Krajowa) , the vast majority of 34 operating at the end of 2017.

According to the information obtained by "Rzeczpospolita" from the Financial Supervisory Authority of Poland, there are currently two wickets managed by receivers appointed by the decision of the PFSA. The deposits of these credit unions (which is precisely Piast and Jaworzno) are worth a total of PLN 600 million, relatively little compared to the total deposits of the SKOK sector (PLN 9.8 billion)

And although the number of chests with a receiver is lower than a year and a half ago, while there were seven, the improvement is apparent because at that time several chests were falling or were being absorbed by the banks. This is clear from the number of savings and credit cooperatives which, since the end of 2016, have decreased by 17. (PAP)
