  • The first day of testing at Yas Marina is over
  • Williams used the services of George Russell and Robert Kubica
  • The fastest was Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari

The young Briton, who will form a team of Grove players next season with a Cracovian, was the first to take a seat in the car. At the end of his class, after covering 42 laps, the 20-year-old beginner could sometimes boast 1,39,512. A few hours later, the result of broken Russell Kubica, who beat a total of 32 wheels was faster than the team partner of exactly 0.243 seconds.

Naturally, however, tire test results are not the most important and it makes no sense to give them more weight. It should also be added that the afternoon sessions almost always give better results than the morning outings. On Wednesday, when the Pole appears for the first time in the car, the order can be completely opposite.

On Tuesday, Sebastian Vettel was fastest, with a time of 136,812. Behind the Ferrari driver were Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Lance Stroll (Force India) making their debut at Silverstone. The 20-year-old, who was still not officially confirmed as a new competitor on his father's team, was weaker than the leader at 0.603 seconds.

Then came Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Sergio Perez (Force India), Lando Norris (McLaren), Nico Huelkenberg (Renault) and Pietro Fittipaldi (Haas). The grandson of the legendary Brazilian pilot had the opportunity to present his skills in the US team for the first time.

Williams, duo Kubica and Russel took the following places. The Poles and Brit are ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, ranked tenth, who after several years returned to the team composed of Sauber and the tester driving for Toro Rosso – Sean Gelael.

Wednesday, the second day of testing will take place and will also end the fight of the queen of motorsport in 2018. Robert Kubica will be sitting in the cockpit of the Williams car this time during the morning session. Later, the 33-year-old will change George Russell.
