A war cemetery from 2,000 years ago was discovered in the poviat of Gorzów. The sensational discovery revealed trees uprooted by the strong wind last year. The story of the discovery is as incredible as the discovery itself. Last October, the region experienced a gust of wind that was uprooted in tree forests with roots. It turned out that the cataclysm has revealed sensational archaeological monuments.

We went to see this place. We did not believe what we saw. In the holes of the trees, between the roots, there were three ombas, two piles, a spearhead, a knife and bones. Everything indicated that there could be a burial place from the 1st to the 3rd century AD. We immediately informed the employees of the Kostrzyn Fortress Museum and the Gorzów Wielkopolski Monument Curator of the discovery. – says the explorer, Dariusz de Lorm.

Once the discovery was confirmed, the procedure to obtain the appropriate permissions for further research was initiated. The researchers eventually returned to the discovery area this fall.

At the beginning of November, new research was undertaken. Subsequent discoveries confirmed the initial thesis that archaeological monuments can be nearly two thousand years old. During the work, three complete burials and one unfinished were finally found.

The next umbre (the center of the shield center) was found, the eyelet (handle towards the target), the knife, the spearhead and the ritual sword. The ashes of buried people were also found in the land ship. A preliminary dating confirmed that it was a burial of the first century of our era.

The search is still in progress. In the opinion of the explorers, the cemetery area can even cover several hectares. There was also no trace of the colony, which should be close to the burial sites.

This place will undoubtedly reveal its secrets for many years. Researchers who have worked until now in cooperation with volunteers and volunteers intend to apply for new exploration permits. They will also collect funds for carrying out the work.

The authors recall that the site where the discovery was made is listed in the Register of Archaeological Sites since last year and that it is legally protected. Any work in this place without proper consent is illegal.
