ESET experts warn of another spam campaign, which the broadcaster claims to have burgled on the victim's device and have it recorded while viewing pornographic content. For the withdrawal of the alleged video material, he claims a ransom of about 7,600 PLN, in bitcoins.

A huge wave of spam was to reach users in many countries around the world. As Ondrej Kubovic, security expert at ESET, explains, the attack consists of sending e-mails to recipients who have been hacked by the hacker to watch pornographic films.
The attacker, in exchange for the deletion of the registration, asks the payment of ransom in bitcoins. If the victim does not send money within 48 hours, the alleged content will be sent to all contacts who managed to steal the hacker from the user 's device. The ESET expert quiets himself – the sender of the message clearly has no compromising sequences for the victim. He only wants to extort money from unconscious victims.

Users who use pornographic services in secret can be fooled. An attempt to extort ransom in exchange for not publishing images or intimate recordings of the victim is called Sextorsion. This can happen when the attacker has real images of the victim, such as an intimate conversation with a fake profile.
Sextortion can be particularly dangerous if the victim is a child – says Kubovic of ESET.
How not to be deceived? ESET experts advise directly: stay calm and do not get carried away by emotions. First, do not download suspicious attachments and do not click on the links in the message. Regularly scan your device with an antivirus program that will help you detect and stop infections and potential problems, such as when a webcam is acquired by a program or a third party.
