In the church, they found a time capsule

They renovated the tower of the historic church of Gniezno, they found a trace of the past. The repair team came across a 1914 time capsule. What does the mysterious message of carpenters and roofers contain?

In the church of St. John the Baptist in Gniezno is under renovation. Construction and conservation work has been done on the helmet of the tower temple. The time capsule of 1914 is therefore in the hands of the builders. All indications are that this small souvenir pipe dating from years ago placed the previous construction team in the tower.

What did they leave behind?

– In the tube, we found a photo that shows what the belfry looked like in 1914. The photo also includes roofers and carpenters who renovated the church. On the back, they wrote their names and dates of birth – says p. the prelate Kazimierz Kociński.

But that's not all. Among the souvenirs, there are also coins from before the First World War and even an unidentified bones fragment. – There is also the so-called "agnusek". it's a piece of wax. From one side the Lamb of God was modeled on and from the other Saint. John the Baptist – says p. KOSCINSKI.

All this appeared in the Catholic Guide, specifically in the June 7, 1914 issue.

– All these elements will probably go to the parish museum. The new touring helmet will have room for a new time capsule. We do not know yet what we are going to put it on – adds p. Kocinski.
