"700 plus" – this slogan contains a summary of the minimum wage increase for PiS authorities. At the press conference on Tuesday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced the amount of the minimum wage for next year. If the ads prove it, the minimum wage in 2020 will rise to 2,450 zlotys, which means that it will be 200 zlotys higher than it currently is. As the Prime Minister pointed out, since the beginning of the PiS power, the minimum wage has been increased by 700 zlotys.
"700 plus" by Mateusz Morawiecki is a summary of the minimum wage increase
On Tuesday 11 June 2019, the Prime Minister announced an increase in the minimum wage for 2020. Over the next year, the national minimum wage will be 200 PLN more than today. Employees can expect 2450 PLN minimum wage.
Mateusz Morawiecki: This is our 700 plus. It can be said that, on an annual basis, it is the thirteenth salary of the least paid. This change will be notable especially after taking into account the reduction of the IRPP to 17%.
"700 plus" is a project that has not been announced, but PiS is proud of it
As underlined Mateusz Morawiecki, "700 plus" is a non-advertised project. PiS, however, is proud of him. According to the Prime Minister, the increase of the minimum wage is of great importance for Polish employees: wages must increase to make the economy more efficient.
Mateusz Morawiecki: An employee must be respected and his remuneration allows him to feel dignified. The amount of compensation also depends on the effectiveness of the work itself and, therefore, the efficiency and competitiveness of the entire economy. In 2020, the minimum wage will rise to 2,450 zlotys. This represents an increase of PLN 700 since the beginning of our governments. It is a project that we have not announced and which we are proud of. This is our 700 plus.
"700 plus" does not appreciate the employers. They fear too great an increase in the minimum wage
Employers are not as optimistic as the Prime Minister. In their view, such a sudden, high pay rise can be deadly for businesses.
- Employers suggest raising the minimum wage to 2387 PLN.
- The unions (FZZ, NSZZ "Solidarność", OPZZ) want the minimum wage in 2020 to be 2,520 zlotys.
It should be remembered that the official amount of the minimum wage next year will be announced on September 15 – the announcement of the Prime Minister will be announced.
