A Fort Myers teenager on an exchange program in Jordan disappeared in Tel Aviv, Israel.
TeNiya Jones, 19, graduated from Dunbar High School in 2017 and a second-year student at the University of Kentucky, he participated in a seven-week exchange program in Jordan, when his friends decided to take a trip to Israel before returning to the United States next Friday.

Thomas-Mora said that she had exchanged text messages with her daughter at 3:30 pm Saturday. In Israel, it was 22:30. and her daughter had told her that she was "for the night". When Thomas-Mora recalled it, Bull said that the teenager had left for a "midnight swim" with two other young people from the exchange program. When they were in the water, they were caught in a ripping stream. All three swam to shore, Thomas-Mora said that Bull told him, but Jones could not be found there. The other students alerted the authorities.
Thomas-Mora said that she also received a call from the United States Embassy in Tel Aviv. The woman with whom she spoke told her that the Israeli police were still actively looking for her daughter.
Bull, reached by phone, said that the US embassy and Israeli authorities were assisting and working with a search and rescue team to locate Jones.
"There were other students present in Tel Aviv", with Jones, he says, and they are "naturally concerned about the welfare of their friend".

Jones's cousin, Jean Davis, one of the 50 distraught parents who had gathered at Thomas-Mora's. Dupree Street on Sunday said she did not think Jones would have swum by midnight. "It's not like her," Davis said. "She would not take a chance like that."
In December, Thomas-Mora's son, Samuel Jones Jr., 22, was shot dead in a double homicide at Lehigh Acres. She has another daughter, Naomi Ruth Mora, 3 years old.

Jones was in the International Baccalaureate program at Dunbar High School, said Thomas -Mora. Jones was a major in biology with a minor in Islamic studies, which was why she was studying in Jordan, her mother said. She went to Amman in June and was scheduled to return to the United States next week.
