Adam Słodowy, an unforgettable DIY promoter, who in the 1970s and 1980s organized an extremely popular program "Do it yourself" on Telewizja Polska. He was also the author of the script of the animated series for children "Pomysłowy Dobromir". He died on July 19, he was 95 years old.

Adam Słodowy was mainly known for his flagship program for young "DIY" and the author of the scenario of a series of children's animation films "Pomysłowy Dobromir" and "Pomysłowy wnuczek", as well as "Screwdrivers and Companies" and "Hole in the Wall".

Adam Słodowy appeared on television in 1959 – by accident. He came to Woronicz annoyed by the "Politechnization Program". "How can you be so bored with DIY" – asked an agitated editor, Tadeusz Kołaczkowski. "Then write a better script," suggested the publisher.

This is how Słodowy appeared on TV screens with his "Do it yourself". He immediately captured the hearts of young DIY enthusiasts with imagination, imagination and talent to transfer knowledge.

The program "Do it yourself" was part of the "Screen with Friday" screen of the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century, then of the Sunday "Teleranka". The malt was personally present in him, from everyday objects (used pen refill, tinplate, piece of plywood or cardboard, etc.) to make toys and utilitarian objects. The show was broadcast for 24 years from 1959 to 1983, making a total of 505 episodes.

Adam Słodowy was born on December 3, 1923 in Czarnków nad Notecią, today in Greater Poland Voivodeship. During the Second World War, he volunteered for the artillery. In the 1950s, he worked as a lecturer at the Koszalin anti-aircraft artillery school and then at the Military University of Technology.

In 1959, he joined television where he initially worked as a manufacturer of stage equipment. In the years 1961-1978, he was editor-in-chief of TVP's editor-in-chief of education and children's programs. In 1983, he retired from television.

Adam Słodowy was also the author of many books on independent DIY. In "I love DIY", he has published some of the information previously shown on television, as well as projects for many new toys and devices. This book has been distributed to more than 560,000 copies.

At the request of the children, on March 21, 1974, Adam Słodowy became a knight of the order of the smile and received in 1983 the literary prize of the Association of Polish Librarians, as the author of the books the more read in public libraries.
