More than 90 crews have signed up for the 56th Barbórka Rally, to be held in Warsaw on Saturday. They will start, among others The finalist Mikko Hirvonen, the European champions Krzysztof Hołowczyc and Kajetan Kajetanowicz, as well as the national leader as a whole, have been finalists four times. Of course, I have participated in the Polish rally a few times, but I have never been to the Barbórka rally in Warsaw and I am looking forward to running, Fin added.
Kajetanowicz series
The Barbórka Rally, which traditionally closes the motorsport season in Poland, is not an event in which drivers compete for points in the final standings of the Polish Championship. This is an event where players thank the fans for doping throughout the season, saying goodbye until next year.
For the players themselves, win at Barbórka and later at the Ace Criterium on ul. Karowa is a prestigious case, the last strong agreement of the season.
Until now, the greatest number of wins – six – have been Tomasz Kuchar. Kajetanowicz has triumphed five times, which is undefeated since 2013. Since 2003, there are more than four pilots among the winners of Barbórka. In addition to Kajetanowicz and Kuchar, Leszek Kuzaj has won three times and three times the Polish champion, Bryan Bouffier, who will also participate in the competition this year.
Bouffier is one of two foreigners who won this rally. The first was an employee of the Italian embassy, Leilo Lattari, who had won two victories – in 1968 and 1974 – driving the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV red sports car. The first time he had to win with Włodzimierz Markowski, both were ranked a tie.
Hołowczyce will open
The only winner of Barbórka, who also won the round of the WRC world championship, is Bouffier, who in 2011 thanks to the perfect choice of tires won during the first season of the Monte Carlo Rally. This could change this year thanks to Hirvonen, who has won fifteen rounds of the WRC cycle.
One of the best in the history of Polish rally drivers Hołowczyc in Barbórka, he only triumphed in 2001 in the wheel of a Peugeot 206 WRC. It was four years after the victory of Olsztynian with driver Maciej Wisławski at the European Championship. This year, both will go to the very old Subaru, an event called "Grandmother", whose power is rated by Hołowczyc for 350 horsepower. On the door they will have the number 0, their task will be to open the route.
Broadcast on TVN Turbo
The course of the Barbórka this year is similar to last year. The program includes two episodes twice: Autodrom Bemowo and Tor Modlin. The time has been changed. On Saturday morning, December 1st, the drivers will drive on the Bemowo High Road, then travel to Modlin, where two episodes will air. After their return to Bemowo, their rivalry will await them again at the premises of the Polish Polish Automobile Club, where the OS4 and OS5 sections will be held.
The first episode at Bemowo starts at 8:00 am, and at Modlin will begin at 9:05. A dual operating system on Bemowo will start fifteen minutes before noon (11:45 – start of OS 4, 12:00 – start of OS5). Thanks to this configuration, not only the crew, but also the rally supporters, will not have to double the long passage from Bemowo to Tor Modlin.
Fans will watch the crew on Friday. In the afternoon, a test section will be played for free at the Bemowo autodrome.
The novelty is scheduled for Friday at the Ceremony of departure which will take place downtown at 20:00. The departure ramp will be at the intersection of Krakowskie Przedmieście and Karowa Streets.
Saturday's competition will conclude with the famous Ace Criterium from Karowa. Demonstrations in the city center will begin at 17:00. After finishing them, Barbórka's top 45 players fight for the statuette of Mrs. Karowa, which will be presented at the closing ceremony of the rally on Saturday in the capital.
